In US state of Connecticut the university of Connecticut is a public research university.A land grant and sea grant college member of the space grant consortium is the university of the Connecticut which was founded in 1881.On the six campuses the university serves more than 30000,including more than 8000 graduate students in multiple programs.The Hartford ,Springfield ,Massachusetts regional economic and the cultural partnership reliance U CONN is one of the founding institution which is known a a news England knowledge corridor.

U Conn.In 1881 U Conn was founded as the stores agricultural schools  named after the two brothers who donated the land for the schools.

The schools became a land grant college in 1893.The name was changed to the university of the Connecticut in 1939.The programs that was established over the next was decade,social work,nursing,and graduate program.and existing schools of law and pharmacy were absorbed into the university. U Conn health was established for new medical and dental schools during the 1960's. In 

1881 U Conn was founded as the stores agricultural schools.After Charles and Augustus stores University of Connecticut it was named and in 1893 it were officially admitted when stores agricultural college named was changed and became Connecticut land grant college.The name again changed to Connecticut agricultural college in 1899,in 1933 to Connecticut state college and finally in 1939 to the university of Connecticut. The  school was divided into individual colleges ans schools  in 1940 reflecting its new university status.The schools of social works and school of nursing was established in this year.

In this year the graduate program was also started at this time and existing schools of law and pharmacy were absorbed into the university Since 1949 PhD's have been awarded.In farming ton as a home for the new school of medicine and school of dental medicine the U Conn health was established during the 1960's.In 1975 john Dempsey hospital opened in farming-ton and has been operated by U Conn ever since. U Conn 2000 a state funded program in 1995 was passed by the Connecticut general assembly and law signed  by GOV john G Rowland. In this 10 year the program was set aside $ 1 billion for updating campus faculties ,add faculty and otherwise improve the university. In 2002 an additional $1.3 billion was pledged by the state of Connecticut as apart of a new 10 year improvement plan which is called 21st century U Conn.
